If you’re looking at this you’re probably already considering the fact that right now, for some reason or another you need some support in managing a particular aspect of your life at work or home.
This is a good thing!
Throughout your life you will achieve many different successes and will also likely face challenges along the way. You will be the person to determine best to approach each decision, event or situation.
There will be times where this is easy and you are in complete control, there will also be times when there are many things to weigh up and consider and you may be impacted by the influences of others.
Sometimes the greatest challenges, changes and successes will come after you have made the initial decision or dealt with the situation.
This is not me imparting any great wisdom here, this is just what happens in everyday life…your life!
You are the common factor here and how you approach everything in your life is because of who you are. However there may be times when you need support in determining what that approach will be.
This is exactly what Project You is designed to help you with.
Why choose ‘Project You’?
Often we don’t take the time to separate everything that is going on in our heads to think about the reasons why we may be caught up in a certain situation or cycle. More often than not we have a lot of noise going on in our heads and we just carry on with things, hoping for the best, but with the feeling that something isn’t quite right.
Project You provides coaching with the emphasis on placing the same importance on ‘You’ as you would any other major project in your life. Project You is about giving you the time and space to think things through to move forward. It’s about investing time and space in you.
The situations that individuals focus on during coaching vary greatly from person to person, but some of the common topics I’ve partnered with people on generally fall into one of the three categories below.
There are many times in your career where Project You coaching would be beneficial, such as, transitioning from university to your first post-graduate job, a first move into management, undertaking a senior leadership position, moving to a new company, returning to work after a period of time due to caring for others or after recovering from an illness, being impacted by redundancy or organisational change, planning changes to your working pattern or retiring.
There can be many changes in our lives that we need to deal with, Project You coaching can help you frame these changes effectively to allow you to move forward. These situations could include managing changes in relationships, moving home or relocating, focussing on your health and wellbeing.
Finding the right balance between work and life for you can be difficult and it means different things to everyone. When something is not right in one area of your life it can have a great impact on the other aspects of your life, so finding the optimum balance is desirable to most people. There are many things that can hinder achieving this balance such as burn out or rust out, difficulty in managing expectations of others, low confidence or self esteem, working towards a promotion, comparing yourself to others.
Whatever the focus for your Project You journey there will be three beneficial outcomes:
You will have a greater sense of clarity and awareness on why the situation you have selected for your Project You impacts you the way it does, and you will understand better how to manage your automatic thoughts, responses and emotions in relation to the situation.
The insight that you gain during your journey will help to motivate you to take the time and space you need to find the right approach and solution for you.
With both the insight and motivation you have you will be able to take action, to make forward moving progress, to achieve the milestones and overall goals of your Project You.
Why choose me as your coach?
Well like you I have been in situations where I just kept going and doing what was expected or just what was easy, with that little bit of hesitation. Wishing that if only I’d had the time to really think about the situation more before just reacting or jumping in – to just be that little bit more aware that I was doing the right thing.
I’ve had times where I have failed miserably at getting the work life balance right to the detriment of my personal life. Whilst I’ve had successes in my career I’ve also suffered from burn out, then the opposite, rust out. Who knew that existed!! And I’ve spent time worrying about how I compare to other people.
In my personal life I’ve relocated and been through huge amounts of personal change, sometimes by choice but often outwith my control, such as parenting, relationship breakdowns, grieving, redundancy, business set-up. Many things I never thought I’d have to deal with.
But I have dealt with it all and then I’ve moved forward. Sometimes I’ve known exactly what to do and with the support of friends and family, I’ve done exactly that.
Other times it hasn’t been so easy I’ve been a bit stuck and bit uncertain, not quite sure and I’ve known that friends and family can only help so much, so I have invested time in me and I have asked for support from coaches or mentors. Each time I have become more self aware and more sure that the direction I decided to take was the right one for me.
What is my coaching style? Well my role is not to be the project manager in your journey so I will not tell or advise you on what you should do.
What I will do is partner with you on your Project You. I will be open and honest with you and I will challenge you, so that you can be certain that what you get from Project You will be exactly what is right for you, to help you gain insights that will motivate you to make forward moving progress.
What is your commitment?
It is important that our partnership is an equal one and so before starting your Project You journey it is essential that you are fully committed to investing in you, both during and between the sessions. You will need to be energised and put in the effort and work to achieve your goals. If you don’t fully commit to this you won’t get the results that you want.
